Yesterday, it appeared Murray State and Southern Illinois were close to finalizing a deal to renew their basketball series.  Today, that deal is done.

Both schools announced today a four-year series will start this season.  Murray State will host games in 2013 and 2015.  SIU will host in 2014 and 2016.

“I’m excited that we were able to schedule this game for our fans and program,” MSU Head Coach Steve Prohm said. “The MSU-SIU series is a great non-conference rivalry that the fans would like to see.”

"Coach (Steve) Prohm has done a fantastic job at Murray State, taking that program to new heights," said SIU head coach Barry Hinson. "Adding the Racers not only improves our strength of schedule, but it will generate interest and excitement among the diehard fan bases of both schools."

This will be the 31st all-time meeting in the series that began in 1929.
