Murray State knocks off Freed-Hardeman 87-74

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Isaiah Canaan had 19 points, five assists and four rebounds to lead Murray State to an 87-74 victory over Freed-Hardeman in Monday night's exhibition game.
     
Jeffery Moss and Stacy Wilson added 16 points each for Murray State. Ed Daniel pulled down a game-high seven rebounds for Murray State.
     
The Racers, who finished with a program-best 31-2 record en route to winning the Ohio Valley Conference last year, appear to have some work to do heading into their season-opener Friday against Brescia.
     
Murray State coach Steve Prohm said he was disappointed in his team's defensive effort.
     
The Racers led 45-42 at the half before building a 12 point lead with less than eight minutes remaining. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Moss and Wilson sealed the win with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
     
Chandler Mack had 17 points to lead Freed-Hardeman, the preseason favorite to win the NAIA's TranSouth Conference.
