NBA scout attends Murray State practice
MURRAY, KY-- The 2013 NBA draft isn't until June 27th of next year, but that's not stopping teams from getting a head start on scouting. The Utah Jazz had a representative at practice on Monday, to check out point guard Isaiah Canaan.
"It's exciting for our guys, because any time you have an NBA scout come, that's a big deal," said Murray State head coach Steve Prohm. "You know, you can never take that for granted so, I told the guys in the locker room, make me know like I know what I'm doing out here."
But it wasn't just any scout, his name is David Hobbs. He was the head basketball coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide when Racers head coach Steve Prohm went to college there.
"He's a great defensive coach, I hope he'll have some tidbits and some thoughts for me after practice," Prohm said. "But it's humbling too, to realize where I am as a coach right now. I've been surrounded by good people my whole life, and he's one of them. And without people like him and coach Kennedy, and several good players along the way, I wouldn't be where I am right now."
