Former Murray State Racer Donte Poole says his weekend trip to New Jersey to work out at the Nets pre-draft combine "went well."  Poole was one of 44 pro prospects who spent their weekend working out in front of scouts from the majority of the 30 NBA teams.

The first day of the combine, Poole said much of the time was spent getting measured.  DraftExpress.com lists Poole as less than 6'1" without shoes.  Poole says he is expected to be a combo-guard at the next level, meaning he'll have to play some point guard which is something he never really had to do at Murray State.

Poole spent the next day doing individual drills and playing 5-on-5.  Poole said he thought he did really well during the individual drills, and that he thought he did "all right" in the 5-on-5 stuff.  He said one of the challenges was balancing being selfish enough to show off what he could do -- yet not being too selfish as to turn off the scouts.

Now back in his hometown of Las Vegas, Poole said he will just continue to work out while he waits for his agent to set up his next workout with another team.  He's hoping all of these camps will give him added exposure as we move toward next month's NBA Draft.  Getting drafted is obviously a long shot, but Poole says he's hoping to be able to earn an invite to somebody's summer league team.
