Countdown to Gridiron Glory: Paducah Tilghman

WPSD Sports

After starting 3-6 last season, no one could have imagined Paducah Tilghman would end up winning their first state football championship since 1985.  But that's exactly what happened.  A 21-0 win over Somerset clinched the first of, what coach Randy Wyatt hopes is, a slew of state titles.

Tilghman has every reason to expect big things this year.  They return 16 starters from that title team, including nine on defense.

Sam Cox, who split time at quarterback last season, will be the man running the Blue Tornado offense this year.  He threw for more than 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2009.

His man target will be senior wide receiver Josh Forrest.  Forrest played football last year for the first time since middle school.  But he was impressive enough to receive a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky.  His 6'4" frame will make it tough on opposing defenses this year.
