Countdown to Gridron Glory: Lone Oak Purple Flash

In 2009, Lone Oak came up one yard short of the school's first state football championship.  The Flash lost to Boyle County, 42-39, in overtime of the KHSAA Class 4A State Championship when the Rebels converted on fourth and goal from the one-yard line to win the game.

It was the second time in three years the Flash had lost in the state title game.

In 2010, Lone Oak is hoping to take care of some unfinished business.

Gone is all-state quarterback Cameron Looper, who threw for nearly 3500 yards and just one interception.  Junior Tyler Presnell will assume the quarterbacking duties becoming the fourth different starting quarterback in four years to trigger the Flash's Air-Raid offense.

Presnell will have plenty of experienced wide receivers to throw the ball.  Three of the Flash's top six receivers return in the form of Joe Starks, Felix Colon and Jared Hill.

Lone Oak again will play a challenging schedule, which includes a trip to fellow Class 4A powerhouse Lexington Catholic.

They also get the benefit of playing their two district games at home against Calloway County and Hopkins County Central.
