Union City wins second state title in five years

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Ricky Henry ran for two touchdowns and 101 yards as he led Union City to a 23-14 victory over South Pittsburg in the TSSAA Class 1A state championship game on Friday at Tennessee Tech's Tucker Stadium.
     
Union City (13-1) did not throw a single pass in the game, racking up 319 yards on the ground, led by Alex Reid's 105 yards and a 29-yard touchdown run on 10 carries.
     
Khalil Mitchell ran for a 17-yard touchdown and 107 yards on 17 carries for South Pittsburg (12-2), while Jujuan Lankford also ran for a 1-yard touchdown among his 12 carries for 40 yards.
     
Case Cook also kicked a 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to complete Union City's scoring.
     
The game was a rematch of the 2009 title game, where Union City won 31-29. It is the Golden Tornadoes' second championship.
