Carlisle County leaves for All "A" Classic
CARLISLE, KY - Over the years the All "A" Classic has become a huge part of each High School season. This year the Carlisle County Comets are heading to the tournament for the first time since 2004. It's this tournament that has the small community rallying around their team.
Before the Comets loaded the bus for Frankfort, Kentucky they celebrated with the rest of the Carlisle County students. In the pep rally they went through the school cheers, were presented letters from selected first grade students, and watched a video highlighting their win over Mayfield in the 1st Region All "A" Tournament.
"We don't have a lot to do on Friday and Saturday nights here," Head Coach Brian ONeill said. "So they come and support this team at the games and I think the guys realized that as they watched the video and saw the crowd."
Even though the Comets have made it this far, the players aren't settling for just one game.
"This is a great opportunity for this team and school," Senior Guard Tanner Guhy said. "We expect to go in there and win. We think we have a great shot and can make a run."
"We're really happy to be making this tournament," Senior Center Marcus Burnett said. "We have come a long way since the first game when we lost to St. Mary and we think we can be better."
