Mayfield beats Fairview 55-8, wins ninth state championship

Mayfield scored 41 unanswered points to roll past Fairview, 55-8, to clinch their ninth state football championship.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after a pair of Jonathan Jackson touchdowns.  Jackson scored four times on the afternoon and rushed for 278 yards.
After a Fairview touchdown cut the lead to 14-8, the Cardinals scored two more times in the next 5:25 to take a 28-8 lead into the half.  Mayfield scored touchdowns on their first four possessions.
Fairview was averaging 416 yards rushing per game this season and 13.6 yards per carry.  Today, Mayfield held the Eagles to 275 yards rushing on 50 carries, for an average of 5.5 yards per carry.
Mayfield wraps up their season at 14-1, winning their final 14 games.
