Wilson was main free-agent target for Titans for a reason

When the Tennessee Titans caravan visited Paducah this weekend, the 'voice of the Titans' Mike Keith, told us that Tennessee has never been as aggressive in an off-season as they have been this year.

The Titans spent $100 million on twelve free agents, and the first one they signed was Paducah's George Wilson, because they needed immediate help on defense.

Last year, the Titans ranked towards the bottom of the league in a lot of defensive categories, Tennessee was worst in the league when it came to giving up points, allowing 29 a contest. Wilson figures to help that, last season he notched 79 tackles, a career high. But taking over a leadership role for the Titans is his main objective.

"I just want to help bring along some of the young talent they have on this team, and to help smooth the transition of the rookies they're going to bring in," Wilson said. "I'm just here to share some of my veteran expertise with them, and try to make this a pleasant season."

"George Wilson is the type of person that we felt like we had to get in our building to help turn this thing around," admitted Mike Keith, the voice of the Titans. "He's a leader, he's a professional, he's a special guy. He's going to help us on the field, and he's already helped us off the field."
