LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky State Fair is hiring more than 750 temporary employees starting Monday. The Kentucky State Fair Board says jobs include ticket sellers, gate attendants, maintenance, grounds, housekeeping and tram drivers.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky grand jury has cleared Madisonville police in the shooting death of a 35-year-old man who pulled a weapon last month. Kentucky State Police said a Hopkins County grand jury heard evidence in the case Tuesday and declined to indict in the death of Douglas Seaton of Madisonville. Authorities have not identified the two Madisonville officers.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky House Speaker Greg Stumbo says House Democrats' top priority for the 2015 legislative session could be letting local governments temporarily raise taxes to pay for large construction projects. Stumbo previously had said the House would focus on legalizing casino style gambling in Kentucky, an issue pushed by the state's formidable horse racing industry and its popular Democratic governor.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky's Department of Education is asking for feedback on efforts by schools to prepare students for college or the workplace. The department's Unbridled Learning College/Career-Readiness for All Accountability Model has been in place since the 2011-12 school year.
