Johnette Worak

Johnette Worak anchors WPSD Local 6 Today and Midday, and is the station medical reporter.

She has won numerous Associated Press, American Cancer Society and American Heart Association journalism awards for her medical reports. Johnette was nominated for a 2000 Emmy award for her special series, "Saving Baby Logan." The story, which took an up close look at in utero surgery to correct birth defects, also won a regional Edward R. Murrow/RTNDA award.

Married to her high school sweetheart, Rodney, Johnette has three children: Rodney Jr., John Ryan and Rachel. Johnette was born in Marion, Illinois, and now resides in Paducah's Lowertown Arts District. Her first years at WPSD were spent covering the news in Southern Illinois as WPSD's Illinois Bureau Chief.

A 1985 Purdue graduate, Johnette's first TV job was at a cable station in Valparaiso, Indiana. Johnette also played a "local anchor woman" in the film U.S. Marshals, which was filmed in the area. You'll have a hard time spotting her in the movie though. "My part ended up on the cutting room floor," she says, "but it was still fun."
