Tori Shaw

Tori Shaw was raised in Dyer, TN in Gibson County, and is a 2002 alumna of Peabody High School in Trenton, TN.

She received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in broadcast communications from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2006. Tori dreamed of becoming a broadcast meteorologist. Unfortunately, UTM, at that time, did not have a meteorology program. Tori and her professors were able to work together and get the classes needed for her to apply for the broadcast meteorology program at Mississippi State University.

She achieved a Master's of Science in broadcast meteorology from MSU in 2009. During that time, she was voted Vice-President of the American Meteorological Society's Student Chapter. As part of the master's program, she wrote a thesis titled "A PBS Mind in a MTV World: Teaching Teenagers Meteorology by Placing a Weather Forecast on Music Television".

Graduate school at MSU opened many opportunities. She created a program called "Concert Forecast". The idea allowed her to forecast for bands and solo artists. She would follow their tour and give the weather forecast for the time and location the artists would perform.  Tori decided to take a year off between graduate school and career to pursue the "Concert Forecast" idea. She built a green screen studio in the basement of her childhood home in Dyer, TN. The artist lineup went from 14 to 30 including two bands overseas.

After a year of forecasting for bands, Tori accepted a job at WCTI-TV NewsChannel12 in New Bern, NC. In the three years at NewsChanbel12, she did weekend weather and reported on feature stories three days a week. While in North Carolina, she received the American Meteorological Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal.

Now, Tori is closer to home and will be working weekends with extremely talented meteorologists at WPSD Local 6, The Weather Authority in Paducah, KY.

In her spare time, Tori likes to play piano and the French horn, listen to music, workout, cook and spending time with her fiancé and their four dogs.
