What the Tech: More battery life

PADUCAH - If you're on the phone all day, you know that your battery never seems to last as long as you'd like. Help with that issue could be just a button press away.

There's a reason to install Apple's latest update: it'll make your battery last longer.

iOS7.1.1 was released last week, which includes security updates and fixes a few minor issues with fingerprint recognition and wireless keyboards. However, the biggest improvement is battery life. Several tests by those in the tech world report battery life has improved significantly.

One report showed the update improved battery life by about 20%. You can install the update by going to 'Settings,' then 'General,' then 'Software,' and finally 'Updates.'

If you need a little help waking up in the morning, an app can do the trick. Unlike some of the shocking alarms, 'Puzzle Alarm Clock' for Androids requires you to solve a puzzle. You choose easy or difficult math problems, or a color sequence. The alarm goes off, and you have to solve the problem to make it stop.

Studies have shown that using our problem solving abilities help make us alert. But if that still doesn't work, you have the option to pay for those extra snoozes. You can set it up where you have to pay $1 to hit the snooze button.

It brings new meaning to the phrase, "you snooze, you lose."
