PADUCAH, Ky - Here are the six things to know for your day in news today, Friday, May 2nd:
  1. A life saving rescue early this morning. Fire crews pulled a woman out of the 50-degree Chicago River. It's not known how or why she entered the water.
  2. Leon Jenkins is resigning. The head of the Los Angeles Chapter of the NAACP stepped down following outrage over his later reversed decision to honor LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling.
  3. A new treatment coming soon to epilepsy sufferers in Missouri. Governor Jay Nixon is expected to sign a bill allowing for the use of help oil.
  4. A change to the Quilt Week skyline. Next year, vendors will move from the pavilion into a renovated showroom in the Convention Center. The city still need a buyer for that 'bubble'.
  5. Stressed-out Salukis can take time to unwind with some four-legged friends tomorrow. Trained therapy dogs will play and fetch in front of Morris Library from 10-2 pm.
  6. Who's hoping to make history this weekend? Jockey Anna Rose Napravnik is trying to become the first woman to ride a Kentucky Derby winner.
