Posted: Updated:
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL - Investigation into the crash found that the garbage truck veered into the same lane as the daycare bus on Spillway Road, hitting the back of the daycare bus.

After the collision, the garbage truck overturned, coming to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection between Illinois Route 13 westbound and Spillway Road. The bus remained upright the entire time, and was shoved to the northwest corner of the intersection as well.

All eleven children on the bus were injured, and all were transported to a local hospital. One child was flown to a regional hospital. All of the children's injuries ranged from very minor to non-life threatening.

Bus driver Mike Peters says the children ranged in age from six weeks to 5 years old.

One adult, a 36 year old female of Herrin, IL had to be pulled from the wreckage and was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other two drivers were also transported for non-life threatening and minor injuries.

The driver of the garbage truck, Mason K. McCord, 29 of West Frankfort, IL has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improper lane usage and may be charged with additional charges.
