Three Paducah K9s awarded bullet-proof vests

PADUCAH - Paducah Police has been awarded three K9 bullet-proof vests by a national non-profit organization.

"Vested Interest in K9s Inc" were able to donate the vests thanks to a $16,595 donation front he "K9 Kota Campaign," which will provide vests for 17 K9s in Kentucky, Ohio, New Jersey, California, and Indiana.

The three vests going to the Paducah Police Department are being provided for the dogs Fox, Junior, and Huub.

The K9 Kota Campaign raised money for the vests by selling more than 1,350 tee-shirts online. Kota is a K9 with the Winchester Police Department in Virginia who sustained a work-related injury when he fell through an attic floor while detaining a suspect. Although his injury was severe on his right leg, Kota climbed back up a flight of stairs to continue the fight.
