A Paducah man has pleaded guilty and faces 17 years in prison in connection with the May 2012 rape of a 68 year-old woman in her home.
43 year-old Jeffrey Furlow pleaded guilty late on Friday morning in McCracken County Circuit Court to charges of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary and two counts of first-degree sodomy.
On May 5th, 2012, Paducah police officers were called to the victim's home to investigate a burglary. The victim told police she awoke to find an unknown man standing over her. She told officers he sexually assaulted her until she was able to call for help. Detectives were called and responded to the scene, along with a K-9 unit.
In April 2013, a report was received from the Kentucky State Police Crime Laboratory, which showed a match between Furlow's DNA and blood evidence collected at the scene of the assault.
Furlow remains in the McCracken County Regional Jail awaiting formal sentencing in August.
