Summertime is almost here and many people are looking forward to opening their backyard pools. Pool service companies are now swamped after the long and harsh winter kept phones silent. Crews are now trying to keep up with the demand from customers.
Aloha Pool & Spas crew technicians Pete Harrison and Stephen Lynch said this is the hardest part about their job.
"You got opening season and you got about that first two months when everybody wants their pools open immediately," said Harrison.
When the weather gets warmer, algae grows in pool water, forcing pool owners to open their pools and start cleaning early.
Harrison said it is best to use shock and algaecide to get rid of the algae in your pool. He said it is also important to backwash it frequently.
