Kids are counting down the days until the final bell, while many parents are searching for ways to keep those kids busy this summer. Northwest Tennessee is one of many places in the Local 6 region, which offers educational places you can take kids this summer.
From clouds to blocks and whole lot more, kids and even those young at heart, have a lot to explore at the Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN. Mary Nita Bondurant is the Marketing Director for the Discovery Park of America, she says, there’s even more outside. “There are exhibits in seven different areas plus gardens and a lot of just grounds where kids can run and play,” says Bondurant.
More importantly families learn, which makes this a summertime educational destination in northwest Tennessee. “This is a great place for moms and dads to bring kids this summer, to get them out of the house away from the television, away from the video games and let them explore,” says Bondurant.
About thirty minutes down the road from the Discovery Park of America you’ll find Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee’s largest natural lake. A series of massive earthquakes created the lake during the winter of 1811 and 1812. From fishing to hiking to a nature center and more, your family will experience a variety of hands-on outdoor activities.
Each Friday, we’ll take you to a different state in the Local 6 region, showing you some of the best educational places, which will help you add a little education to your vacation.
