MARSHALL COUNTY, KY -
One man is dead and a part of the Purchase Parkway was shut down on Thursday afternoon after a dump truck overturned.
The Marshall County Sheriff's Department got the call just after 11:30 am. They say a dump truck carrying around 60,000 pounds of gravel was traveling northbound when it lost control, overturned, and broke apart. It then came to a rest upside-down in the ditch by the southbound lanes.
Those southbound lanes were closed while crews cleaned up diesel fuel and gravel from the roadway.
Sheriff Kevin Byars say that it appears that the rear driver's side tire blew out and may have caused the crash.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
