Construction creating traffic congestion on I-24 Westbound

Posted: Updated:
PADUCAH - Paving on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge is creating traffic delays for drivers traveling from Kentucky to Illinois.

Westbound I-24 has been backed up about 5 miles all day due to construction in the work zone.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says drivers can use the US 45 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Brookport to avoid the congestion.

The paving is expected to be completed on Friday.

Once that is done, the work zone will be taken down for the weekend.

All lanes will be open Saturday and Sunday for travel.

On Monday, June 16th, the work zone will go back up for traffic striping and other finishing work.
