Paving work has been completed and westbound lane restrictions on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis have been taken down.
Eastbound lane restrictions will remain in place, but one open lane has been widened to help traffic flow.
Work will continue on the eastbound side but the Illinois Department of Transportation anticipates that work will be completed in the middle of next week.
If the eastbound lane work is not completed by the Fourth of July Holiday, the work zone will be taken down around 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 2.
Drivers should continue to drive carefully Monday and Tuesday because crews will be adding raised pavement reflectors to the bridge lanes in both directions. The reflectors will be done with a rolling work caravan.
The lane restrictions were originally in place for paving work.
