Poison ivy, not only is it itchy and scratchy, but it is also bringing in patients to local doctors' offices.

Dr. Brian Harrision at the Community Healthcare in Benton, Illinois, is seeing sinusitis, upper respiratory infections, and a little strep throat.

Michelle Elkins, nurse practitioner at Marshall County Family Medical in Benton, reports sinusitis, pharyngitis, poison ivy, and tick bites.

Dr. John Cecil at the Cecil Clinic in Paducah is still treating an epidemic of poison ivy. He is also seeing lots of tick bites, which have also caused ehrlichia in some people. Symptoms of ehrlichia include headaches, fever, and chills. Three cases of mono have also shown up in Dr. Cecil's office in just the past two days.
