A helicopter landing to pick up patients and a school bus overturned on its side after a crash. Those were some of the scenes during Monday's training in Ballard County, Kentucky.
None of it is real, but the training is necessary for emergency workers. Organizers say that's especially true given the number of bus crashes across the country.
"We're seeing a lot more school bus accidents. I think last year in the United States there was over a thousand of them. I'm not 100% sure on the statistics. Last year alone we had two in our county. Thankfully nobody was injured in them. We just want to be prepared if it does occur," said Ballard County Emergency Management Director, Travis Holder.
More than 50 people took part in the exercise, including many volunteers.
