Summer and back-to-school pet tips

Posted: Updated:
PADUCAH, Ky - All summer long, we've asked parents to check the backseat for their small children. Dozens of kids have died so far this year from heatstroke after being left inside a hot car. Those high temperatures inside the car also affect your dogs and cats, and it too can be deadly.

Lourdes Spencer and her son, Eric from 'Paws 4 A Cause' brought some furry friends to the studio to help lend some summer pet tips.

Information on adopting Teagan:

Teagan arrived at the McCracken Animal Shelter on 4-2-13

She's fully vetted, spayed and HW neg.

She's an extremely friendly girl and gets along with other dogs, cats and people.

One of the reasons she's been at the shelter for so long is because she's a black dog and black animals have the lowest adoption rates.  Please go to the shelter and meet this sweet girl.  You're guaranteed to fall in love.

Information on adopting Jack:

This is Jack and he's a male Jack Russell Terrier.  He's available for adoption thru the McCracken Humane Society.   He's fully vetted and is Heartworm positive.  He's currently undergoing the slow kill method...and all that entails is a pill once a month.  Jack seems to be very well behaved, loves other dogs, cats and people.  He's looking for his forever home.  Doesn't his smile just win your heart?

Information on adopting Scarface:
Now available for immediate adoption...This kitten  was dumped out behind Verizon at the mall where he was living underneath the dumpster. He got a trauma to the right side of his face, was taken to the vet where he got stitches and was neutered.  . He's a total love bug...loves to cuddle and gets along with other cats and dogs
