Gas line ruptured on WKU campus

BOWLING GREEN, KY - AP - A gas line has been ruptured on the Western Kentucky University campus in Bowling Green prompting the evacuation of residence halls and a parking structure.

The Daily News reported that crews from Atmos Energy were installing a sidewalk Friday morning when they hit a major gas line.

Bowling Green Fire Department and Western Kentucky University Police blocked traffic from entering campus at University Boulevard. Multiple other buildings, including nearby residence halls and a parking structure were evacuated.

There were no reports of injuries.

According to tweets from the University, Schneider Hall was evacuated due to the gas line, and it has since been repaired. Emergency personnel gave the 'all-clear' around 9:00 AM.
