Dyer Hill Curve closure this weekend

Posted: Updated:
LIVINGSTON Co, Ky - This weekend, your commute may be longer if you travel along the Dyer Hill Curve.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will close a section of US Hwy 60 at mile marker 18.5 this weekend beginning at 6 AM Friday, August 2nd to 6 PM Saturday August 3rd.

Closure of the highway will allow for the Dyer Hill Curve project to be tied to the existing roadway. Construction softens the 'S' curve on US 60 as it passes through a bluff just west of the Burna community. The change is designed to be safer and improve traffic flow.

A detour will be provided via KY 337/ River Road and KY 133/ Lola Road. Drivers who take this detour should be aware of the increased traffic during this time. The detour will add approximately an extra 30 minutes of drive time from Salem, KY to Smithland, KY.

The KYTC believes that the closure is the most efficient and least disruptive way to complete the work over 2 days as opposed to a partial closure lasting for 2 weeks.

Construction will be completed before the start of school.
