MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY - A McCracken County deputy says a dog tried to bite him while he was conducting a search warrant.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says the search warrant was executed at a home on Woodville Road in the Kevil area of McCracken County.

Upon entry, deputies say they encountered three pit bulls. One deputy says he shot one of the pit bulls after it tried to bite him.

Animal control had to be called in to remove a total of five pit bulls from the home before deputies could search the home.

During their search, deputies found marijuana, scales, drug packaging materials, a loaded pistol grip shotgun, ammunition, and more than $10,000 in cash. The cash is believed to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales.

21-year-old Corey Leonard and 23-year-old Caleb Scronce were arrested. Two women and a child were also in the home. The child was released to a family member.

Leonard and Scronce are accused of selling marijuana for the past 2-3 months. Both are convicted felons and had prior drug trafficking convictions. Scronce was on felony parole at the time of his arrest.

Leonard and Scronce had both been charged with firearm enhanced 2nd offense trafficking marijuana 8oz- 5lbs, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and harboring a vicious animal.
