MASSAC COUNTY, IL -
A community is coming together to try and save an injured beagle.
Metropolis Animal Control found him Tuesday in the north part of Massac County with severe wounds.
We went to see that beagle at Beagle's Bay Animal Hospital in Metropolis. Staff told us he's in stable, but critical condition. He's already had to have part of his jaw removed and reconstructed, and deep wounds treated on the lower part of his body.
So, why all the effort for a dog with no name?
"Because he needs it," said Bonnie Jones, DVM, owner of Beagle's Bay Animal Hospital. "You know, we all have pets of our own. I have a little one-eyed beagle who I adore. And if my dog was in this shape at the pound, I'd want someone to help him out."
His treatment is not cheap, and animal control does not have the money in their budget for all the surgery and care this beagle requires.
They're asking for donations to help him. Make checks payable to City Of Metropolis Animal Control , P.O. Box 682, Metropolis, IL 62960.
