A Chicago man has been charged with battery to a police officer while protesting a grand jury decision not to charge a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer in the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
Police say 57-year-old Richard Newburger was arrested along with two 63-year-old women in downtown Chicago on Wednesday.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that (http://bit.ly/1rrDUrc ) Newburger faces a felony count of aggravated battery of an officer and was to appear in bond court on Thursday.
The women were charged with obstructing traffic and resisting an officer, both misdemeanors.
It was not immediately clear what led to their arrests.
Demonstrators across the county have been protesting the Missouri grand jury decision not to charge white police officer Darren Wilson in the death of the unarmed Brown, who was black.
