Escaped Marshall County inmate turns himself in

BENTON, Ky -

UPDATE: Mitchell McDonald turned himself in to Kentucky State Police at 8:30 Tuesday morning. He was charged with second degree escape, a class D felony and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Facility.

Trooper Cory Hamby is continuing an investigation into McDonald's escape.


Deputies are looking for an inmate who escaped Monday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police say 45-year-old Mitchell McDonald walked away from a work detail at the Marshall County Detention Facility garage.

McDonald is a state inmate at the Marshall County Detention Facility, serving his sentence for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation.

He is 5'10" tall, about 206 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a scraggly beard. McDonald was last seen wearing blue jeans. It is not known what color shirt he was wearing.
