JACKSON CO, IL -

Do you have holiday lights you are no longer using?

If you do, you can recycle them through the Jackson County electronic recycling program.

Due to the holiday season, three additional drop-off locations have open to take holiday lights sets.

Collection bins are available at:

Jackson County Health Department, 415 Health Department Road, Murphysboro, Illinois.
City of Murphysboro Administrative Building, 1101 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, Illinois.
Carbondale Public Library, 405 West Main Street, Carbondale, Illinois.

The three drop-off locations will be open through January 10th, 2015.

The Southern Recycling Center at 300 West Chestnut Street in Carbondale takes holiday lights year round.

Lights taken include: mini-lights, C7 and C9 bulbs, rope lights, LED lights, and extension cords of any length. Tinsel, garland, and decorative items should be removed from the light sets before they are dropped off.

The lights dropped off are sent to a recycling center where they are broken down for recycling into various new products.

For more information contact the Jackson County Health Department at (618) 684-3134, ext. 128.
