UNION COUNTY, IL -

Police officers and deputies across the Local 6 area will be on the lookout for drunk drivers this New Year's Eve.

Union County Sheriff Scott Harvel says his office, along with Illinois State Police and police departments, will be on patrol for drunk drivers.

First time DUI offenders could face thousand of dollars in fines, face jail time, and lose their driver's license.

Repeat offenders could face larger fines, a felony conviction, and prison time.

Harvel encourages everyone who will be drinking to have a designated driver that evening.
