Traffic stop leads to arrests and seizure of drugs and stolen gun

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL -

Two Illinois men were arrested after a police officer found a stolen gun and cannabis in the vehicle they were driving in.

The Energy Police Department says around 3:30 p.m. on Monday a K9 officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding.

Inside the vehicle, the officer found more than 23 grams of suspected cannabis, over $5,000 in cash, and a loaded handgun which had been reported as stolen.

The driver, 26-year-old Jeremy Spivey of Herrin, was arrested on multiple charges including:
- Speeding
- Operation of an uninsured motor vehicle
- Failure to signal when required
- Driving while license suspended
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Manufacture or delivery of cannabis
- Unlawful use of a weapon by a felon
- Violation of bail bond

27-year-old David Wyatt of Marion was a passenger in the vehicle. He was charged with:
- Violation of a bail bond
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Manufacture or delivery of cannabis
- Unlawful use of a weapon by a felon

Both were taken to the Williamson County jail.
