Carbondale council member charged with DUI

Posted: Updated:

A Carbondale city council member was charged in court on Monday with a DUI and resisting a police officer.

44-year-old Lance Jack was arrested on January 30th by the Carbondale Police Department.

According to the Jackson County State's Attorney Office, Jack was charged with Resisting a Peace Officer, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Wrong Way on a One Way Street, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

His next court date is set for Thursday, February 19th.

Local 6 spoke with Carbondale's Mayor Don Monty on Jack's arrest. He says, "It would be inappropriate to take action unless there is a conviction."

While he hasn't discussed that with the county attorney, he believes it takes a felony conviction to jeopardize his position as an elected official.

Jack is up for re-election in April.
