Honeywell, union negotiations end this week without agreement

Posted: Updated:
METROPOLIS, IL - Negotiations between Honeywell and the union ended this week without a settlement.

Union spokesperson John Paul Smith sent us this statement:
"The union worked very hard to reach an agreement with the company. Unfortunately, after the union made major concessions and addressed all company concerns, Honeywell is still unwilling to address our members' concerns over job security, and seeks to limit the union's ability to represent our members. There are no new negotiation dates at this time. The union remains open to meet with the company and committed to reach an agreement that is fair to our members."

Honeywell spokesperson Peter Dalpe sent this response on behalf of the company:
“The company is disappointed in this result, as the negotiation over the prior two days had been constructive and significant progress was made toward an agreement. During the negotiations the company presented the union with a new comprehensive three-year contract offer that would guarantee annual wage increases and ensure Metropolis union workers remain among the highest paid workforces in the region, while providing competitive consumer-driven health care benefits. Despite this offer, local union negotiators indicated they will not put this new offer to the union membership for a vote. The company remains committed to negotiations and bargaining in good faith, however there are no new dates to resume negotiations at this time.”

There are no new dates for future negotiations.
