Oral Marks' mobile home was gutted in an early morning fire on Friday. This is all that's left.
A view through a charred hole of what's left of Oral Marks' mobile home,
Oral Marks shared his story with us on Friday, explaining how he was able to barely escape with his dog, Joe, from the burning home.
MARSHALL COUNTY, KY -
One minute Oral Marks was drinking his morning coffee. The next, he was escaping his burning home.
The Possum Trot man managed to grab his dog Joe and a few other things before his mobile home burned to the ground around 6:30 am Friday.
Marks says he heard his smoke alarm go off, went to take a look and saw flames coming down the hallway. That's when he said he had only moments to act.
"I just had enough time to grab my pair of shoes, this shirt, a couple, three more things and got out- grab my dog and got out," Marks told us.
If you'd like to help Marks, you can drop of donations to the Central Church of Christ at 2081 Mayfield Highway in Benton. He needs everything at this point, from clothing, to toiletries. Marks tells us he wears a size XL in shirts and coats, a size 10.5 in shoes, and size 42X30 in pants.
