5 injured, 1 dead in Pennyrile Parkway crash

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. -  A southern Indiana woman died Sunday morning after a crash on the Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County.

Kentucky State Police say Alyssa M. Wagner, 22, of Jasper Indiana, was driving a 2004 Lincoln Aviator northbound on the Pennyrile Parkway near mile marker 30.

For unknown reasons Wagner's vehicle exited the left-hand shoulder of the road and struck an overpass support column.   It then re-entered the northbound lanes overturning onto its passenger side and came to a stop in the parkway.

She was wearing a seat belt but died from her injuries at the scene.

Passengers Lauren Cessan, 22, of Ogden Illinois, Kristen Hostetter, 23, of Bloomfield Indiana, and Jennah M. Banks, 23, of Rockport Indiana were taken to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment to their injuries.

Passenger Jarod Daming, 24, from Newburgh Indiana was flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, and passenger Malcolm Webb, 23, from Rockport Indiana was flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville Indiana for treatment to their injuries.  

An ongoing investigation in being conducted by Trooper William Braden, who was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Nick Rice, Trooper Luis Palmer, the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, Nortonville Fire Rescue, and Med Center Ambulance.
