Keith Griffith still waiting for new public defender to be named

Posted: Updated:
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY -

Murder suspect Keith Griffith will remain in jail for now as he waits for a public defender to be assigned to his case.

He's charged with shooting and killing his wife, then setting their house on fire in Reidland last year.

His first murder trail ended in a mistrial last month.

Lawyers asked for a bond reduction Thursday morning. They asked that Griffith's $1 million bond be reduced to $100,000.

Judge Tim Kaltenbach did not rule on the motion. He says he is waiting until a public defender is named.

Kaltenbach did grant Mark Bryant's motion to withdraw as Griffith's defense attorney.

Griffith's house, which has been called a public nuisance, will remain as is until Griffith's new attorney decides whether it's best to keep it standing or tear it down.
