PADUCAH, Ky -
How much do you love your hometown? One woman is celebrating a decade in Paducah.
Char Downs says Paducah and the Lowertown district are the most welcoming places she's lived, and she's celebrating her decade with a unique project.
The project is called 'One Community, One Life'. With 58 masks, Downs says it's just the beginning of a project she's thought about for decades. Downs says about Paducah, "This place has really touched me, deeply and I like sharing that."
She says the project only required the right place and the right decade for the project to come to fruition, "When I got here, I was like yeah this is gonna work."
The project involves taking plaster molds of her friends, family, and neighbors' faces. Anyone, in fact, who will lend their image. It's a somewhat intimate process-fingertips applying a thin layer of plaster to every corner of your face. Downs says, "It's a celebration of that and all the people I've met in the 10 years."
Char will be working on this project until October. Everyone is encouraged to take part before she puts the final display together for November.
