Whaler's Catch up for sale

Posted: Updated:
PADUCAH, Ky -  For several months, many people have been wondering about the future of Whaler's Catch. Now the building is up for sale.

The landmark restaurant in downtown Paducah closed permanently, shortly after the owner John Harris died in November.

It's a place people like Buffey Fell said gave a special touch to downtown.

“It's a nice place to be on a summer night or in the fall or spring just, because it's one of the few places that offer outside seating,” Fell said.

On a livelier day downtown like Saturday, it's hard not to notice how still the area near Whaler's Catch can look.

“For instance, tonight being St. Patrick's Day - to me it was busy. They'd have a live band come there and it was just very festive,” Fell said.

Fell would like another restaurant to fill its place.

The building's realtor Casey Presswood, with Sirk and Company, said the building could turn into anything as long as it follows zoning laws.

“We're excited to see what comes from it,” Presswood said.

The listing includes two separate buildings  that equal 11,267 square feet. The asking price is $735,000. The equipment is for sale and is not included in the asking price, to see the listing click here.

Having memories of her own at Whaler's Catch, Presswood said it's exciting the property is already getting interest - less than a week after it went on the market.

“My husband I, we used to come here for date night. So there are memories here. So there's a lot of pride with that when it comes to having the listing,” Presswood said.

Paul Signa  owner of Doe's Eat Place nearby said he doesn't want to see it sit empty for too long.

“I don't know what needs to go there whether it be a bar, restaurant, whatever, but that's a beautiful spot,” Signa said.
