Incredible Colon on display at Baptist Health Paducah

Posted: Updated:
PADUCAH - Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the nation and rates in the Local 6 region are higher than the national average.  However, colon cancer is very preventable if it is caught early.

The 20 foot inflatable and interactive exhibit known as the Incredible Colon is used as an educational tool to promote colon cancer awareness and screening guidelines.  It is one of the main systems within our bodies and it is important to have your colon working effectively.

Not only is it responsible for breaking down food, and providing nutrition, but it also eliminates any waste products.  The American Cancer Society recommends adults 50 and older should get a colonoscopy.  If you have a family history, doctors recommend starting at the age of 40.

If you did not get a chance to see the Incredible Colon at Baptist Health Paducah, it will be at Lourdes Hospital next Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
