Local law firm declines to file lawsuit on behalf of Paducah Power

PADUCAH, KY -

A local law firm say they will not file a lawsuit against Prairie State, Peabody Energy or anyone else on behalf of Paducah Power Systems.

Bryant Law Center sent a letter to PPS General Manager Gary Zheng Thursday afternoon. It says they law group has concluded their investigation into Prairie State Energy.

The letter claims they're declining to file a lawsuit against Prairie State, Peabody Energy and others involved in this investment not because they didn't find wrong-doing, but because they claim the statute of limitations passed years before they began their investigation.

We have a crew headed to interview Bryant Law Center President, Mark Bryant.

Paducah Power Spokesperson Andrea Underwood sent us this response, "We appreciate all of Mr. Bryant's work. While we felt confident there was no foundation for a lawsuit, we wanted to explore every opportunity for rate relief and make sure our Prairie State agreements had been thoroughly reviewed by an independent entity. We believe Mr. Bryant has been very thorough and that his work reinforces the direction we've taken with our recovery plan."

We're working to get a response from Paducah Power and others named in the letter. When we get that information, we'll pass it along.
