HICKORY, Ky -
On Easter many TV networks offer movies or shows about the life of Jesus Christ, but what about after? A local church is using NBC's "A.D. The Bible Continues", which premieres Sunday at 8 p.m., as a way to raise awareness on the Bible's later chapters.
Pastor Rusty Wirt with Community Fellowship Baptist Church in Hickory, KY said they will have weekly online discussions starting Monday to talk New Testament.
“We feel like that message needs to get out to more and more people and we want to use the technology available to us to do that,” Wirt said.
The 12 episode series picks up where 'The Bible' left off at life after the resurrection. Pastor Wirt said the series message is not just for Christians but everybody.
“Even people that have no faith, it's a message of hope and grace that is important for everybody to consider,” Wirt said.
Every Monday morning after the A.D. series takes place there will be a discussion question or a video on www.thebiblecontinues.com. Then people can go to the church's Facebook Page to talk about it.
“We are hoping people will go there and join the discussion,” Wirt said.
Pastor Wirt said it can be a ground for believers of any or no faith to ask questions and hopefully learn more about history and scripture.
“We believe this message brings hope and peace to all kinds of people and so we thought what a great opportunity for us to talk about that,” Wirt said.
You can catch "A.D. The Bible Continues” every Sunday at 8 p.m. on Local 6.
