GRAVES COUNTY, KY -

A local sheriff's office was able to arrest a burglary suspect thanks to some citizens.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office says they got a call just before Noon on Wednesday of a possible burglary in progress on KY 1241 in the Viola community.

Alert neighbors noticed a man trying to break into the home and called 911.

The man left the home and the witnesses followed him. He then went to Beasley Loop in the Viola community and tried to enter another home.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found that several neighbors had block the suspect's car in the driveway of the Beasley Loop home.

The suspect, James Ellegood of Fancy Farm, was arrested. Deputies found a club hidden under the driver's seat of his car and burglary tools.

The sheriff's office thanks the alert neighbors for their help but also wants citizen to know, "We would also caution the public in getting directly involved with suspects out of concern for the public's safety."

Ellegood was charged with two counts of attempted burglary, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of burglary tools.
