Each man was charged with using a computer to access images of child pornography online and faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime of supervised release.
Joseph R. Washburn, 33, of Murphysboro, Illinois, is alleged to have committed the offense in Jackson County. The investigation into the case was conducted by the Secret Service Southern Illinois Cyber Crimes Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, the Benton Police Department, and the Murphysboro Police Department.
Thomas C. Fulk, 46, of Olney, Illinois, is alleged to have committed the offense in Richland County. The investigation into the case was conducted by the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the Richland County State's Attorney, the Illinois State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Leggans is prosecuting both cases.
