POPE COUNTY, Ill. -
UPDATE: Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits says County Coroner Mark Aly confirmed the body as Kyle Brown. The results of his death are pending toxicology results. Suits says he does not suspect foul play. Illinois State Police is still investigating.
Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits tells Local 6 two vehicles were pulled from One Horse Gap Lake Friday night in northern Pope County.
Suits said a body matching a description of Kyle Brown was found inside one of the vehicles. Local 6's Robert Bradfield spoke to Tina Brown, Kyle's mother Saturday morning. She said one of the vehicles pulled from the lake was a black Honda CRV, the one Kyle took in December, the last time he was seen alive.
Brown was last seen in late December. His family and the community of Harrisburg held a candlelight vigil earlier this year in the hopes someone may come forward with information.
Tina Brown said she has not received confirmation that the body is Kyle. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
Suits is not sure who the second vehicle belongs to. The investigation into how the vehicles ended up in the lake is ongoing.
In a statement to Local 6, Brown said, "Kyle, my heart is forever with you because you ARE my heart. You are the best son a mom could ever hope to be blessed with. I love you more than you could possibly know, forever and always. My heart is shattered without you here."
