SIKESTON, MO -

The Scott County Coroner says a recent knife injury does not appear to have anything to do with the death of a Sikeston, Missouri man.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety says 30-year-old Tony Allen Burns was found deceased in bed in his William Street home on Sunday.

Officers say Burns was stabbed in the neck three days earlier. He was treated and released from a hospital. Burns appeared to be resting at home when he died.

An exact cause of death has yet to be determined. It will be several weeks before the results of microscopic and toxicology are released.

An investigation into the death is ongoing.
