Company responds to distillery lawsuit

Posted: Updated:
MARSHALL COUNTY, KY -

The man sued in connection to the distillery explosion in Marshall County, Kentucky is responding to the lawsuit.

Silver Trail Distillery owner Spencer Balentine and employee Jay Rogers filed the lawsuit against the still maker, Terry Wilhelm, blaming the still's construction for the explosion.

Wilhelm denied the claims in a phone interview with WhiskeyCast's Mark Gillepsie.

"These things are wide open to the atmosphere," said Terry Wilhelm on WhiskeyCast. "They don't build any pressure at all. It's just a column, something got out in the outfit line and something built pressure."

The Kentucky State Fire Marshall is still investigating the cause of the blast that seriously injured Jay Rogers and Kyle Rogers.

Kyle died at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville earlier this month.

Jay is recovering.
